Focus and Scope

Papers in Education and Development (PED) is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the analysis of educational problems and issues from a multidisciplinary point of view. Contributions are invited from authors in a variety of academic disciplines whose work has significant implications for educational policy and/or practice both in Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. The journal is published twice a year. The Editorial Board accepts research-based analytical papers, original research reports, book reviews, letters, and short communications.

Peer Review Process

Our principles for recruiting reviewers prioritise individuals with a proven track record of excellence in reviewing, extensive review records, relevant professional experience, qualifications, and specialisation in appropriate fields. Our reviewers are experts committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic quality. At PED, we aim to build a diverse pool of reviewers to cover various disciplines within education and development. 

Reviewing Standards
Reviewers assess submissions based on outlined criteria, emphasising originality, sound methodology, and the significance of findings. These criteria are highlighted in our submission guidelines to provide clear expectations for authors and ensure a thorough evaluation.

Number of Reviewers
Each submission is typically reviewed by at least two qualified experts in the field. This multi-reviewer approach contributes to a comprehensive evaluation of manuscripts.

Review Timeframe
We understand the importance of timely feedback. Our rigorous review process typically takes between two to three months. While ensuring thorough evaluation, we strive to provide authors with constructive feedback in a reasonable timeframe.
