Community Based Cultural Heritage Management: A Stepping Stone Towards Sustainable Cultural Tourism. A Case Study of Vilanculos, Inhambane Province, Southern Mozambique
Abstract
This paper discusses community participation in heritage management in relation to cultural tourism. The most important aspect examined is how local communities can be empowered to manage their own cultural heritage, for present and future generations. The discussion is based on research carried out at archaeological sites in the Vilanculos district, Inhambane Province, southern Mozambique.
