Aims and Scope

The East African Journal of Communication Studies is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to advancing scholarly understanding of human communication across diverse contexts. Serving as a platform for innovative research and critical insights, the journal publishes studies in various subfields of communication, including but not limited to interpersonal communication, organizational communication, digital communication, political communication, intercultural and cross-cultural communication, health communication, science communication, development communication, environmental communication, crisis and risk communication, strategic communication and rhetoric studies.

Recognizing the inherently multidisciplinary nature of communication, the journal also welcomes submissions from arts, humanities and social sciences disciplines that contribute to the understanding of human expression, meaning-making, and societal discourse. These fields include linguistics, languages, Kiswahili, history, literature and creative arts, cultural studies, philosophy, semiotics, writing studies, media studies, and discourse analysis, among others. We particularly encourage interdisciplinary research that explores the intersections of communication with these disciplines.

While the journal originates from East Africa, its scope is not geographically limited. We welcome contributions from scholars across the globe, to create a vibrant exchange of ideas that enriches both regional and international perspectives on communication.
